The purposes for which we have provided assistance are many and varied, and in the past year we have provided in excess of 300 grants to families and individuals in desperate need of help.

The following are just a few examples of the expressions of gratitude we get from those we have been able to help.

For reasons of privacy the names have been changed.

"Just wanted to say thank you so much for the $1843.00 to purchase a Bathmaster for our sons who have Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. I don't think I can put into words how much it means to us to have this chair. Without it life would be so hard. We use it everyday. Sometimes I am home on my own to bath the boys and I would not be able to do it without this chair. So thank you all so much. May God Bless you all."

"I would like to take this opportunity to thank all those involved in the Trust for their generous gift. I know the computer will be invaluable to Nick and will no doubt assist him with achieving his goals in education as well as hugely reducing tension and stress in their home. More importantly the emotional lift that such a gift has given to both Nick and his mother is immeasurable. Nick's mother is so thankful, appreciative and astounded that someone would give such a generous gift to help her and her family. We are all sincerely grateful. I thank you all for your kindness."
(NB. Nick suffers from autism and associated communication difficulties)

On behalf of Bill I would like to thank the Trust for your donation to purchase a scooter. Bill has been home from hospital for about 6 weeks. He attends rehabilitation once a week and is doing well in learning to walk with two prosthetic legs. As predicted he has experienced difficulty with longer distance mobility. Even a short trip to the local shops becomes a major expedition for Bill. It consumed a lot of time and energy and resulted in pressure area pain and some tissue breakdown on his stumps. His mood was also adversely affected. However, now that he has the scooter it has changed things considerably. He can come and go from his home as he pleases and is not reliant on others for assistance. His mood and confidence has improved ten-fold. Bill asked me to convey to you he described the scooter as the ‘best Christmas present I've ever received'. Thank you again."

"I am writing to you on behalf of my client and myself in appreciation of your support with funding of $400 towards her prescription glasses. Mary is eagerly awaiting her prescription glasses to be made up. She is looking forward to being able to enjoy reading again to her children and for her own interest. This will also impact on her physically, eliminating the headaches she suffers from. Mary asked me to pass on her appreciation for your help, she is very grateful."

"I wish to thank the Walter and Eliza Hall Trust for the financial assistance provided to Mr John Smith for the purchase of a wheelchair and wheelchair cushion. These equipment items have now been purchased and supplied to Mr Smith. The wheelchair will be of great benefit and assistance to Mr Smith and his family in providing him with a safe and more independent means of mobilising within the community."
